Based on user segmentation and behavior, each ad unit – originally built in Flash and then remade in HTML5 – could display dozens of combinations of headlines, background images and products.
In order to prevent having art directors comp dozens of units for client approval, we created a functional spec, design document, and content matrix, as well as a smart preview page where the user (or proofreader, or client) could select the segment and desired behavior, and preview the results in real time.
